Cornwall Liberal Democrats to Fight all 87 Seats In Cornwall Council Elections

Cornwall’s Liberal Democrats are delighted to announce that they will be standing a full slate of 87 candidates in the upcoming Cornwall Council elections this May. This move highlights the party’s dedication to tackling the challenges facing Cornwall and offering a strong alternative to the current Conservative led council.
Since taking control, the Conservatives have overseen a period of mismanagement and neglect, leaving communities to bear the brunt of their poor decisions. Public services have been cut to the bone, while millions of taxpayers’ money has been squandered on consultants and a failed airport scheme. Meanwhile, the housing crisis has spiralled out of control, social care is on its knees, and local businesses are struggling under rising costs. Cornwall deserves better.
Councillor Leigh Frost, the leader of the Liberal Democrat group on Cornwall Council and councillor for Bodmin St Petroc, expressed the party’s commitment to bringing about real change
“Cornwall’s residents are facing some of the toughest challenges in their lives, but I firmly believe that with Liberal Democrat leadership at Cornwall Council, we can rise to meet them. For too long, people across Cornwall have been let down by mismanagement from the council who they rely on to provide public services. Under the Liberal Democrats, we will start the work to rebuild a broken council, restore accountability with our electorate and bring back quality services that people can rely on; which is why we’re fighting every seat in this election.”
By presenting a full team of candidates, the Liberal Democrats are offering voters across Cornwall the opportunity to choose representatives who are dedicated to local democracy, transparency, and genuine progress. We believe that Cornwall deserves better than the complacency and failures of the past four years. It’s time for a fresh approach that puts the interests of our communities first.
