Paying more and getting less!

Conservatives on Cornwall Council have voted to increase Council Tax by 5%, abolish free evening parking at Millpool and increase the Tamar tolls to £3. Conservatives won control of Cornwall Council in 2021 after promising they would work with Conservative MPs to get better funding from the Conservative Government. But last month, the Conservative Council Leader admitted on BBC Radio 4 that they had failed.

Low incomes and high cost of living are putting many families under pressure. And yet local government services that should be providing help are having their funding cut to the bone. This is particularly unfair in rural areas where sparse populations and narrow lanes increase the cost of delivering services. Only the Liberal Democrats are committed to restoring free evening parking and abolishing the Tamar Tolls.
